~ TODAY ~ The Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window ...... it is a clear sunny day, blue sky, no clouds. I see on our weather website that it is 21C.  It has been cooler overnight lately, but a light jacket suffices, we haven't worried about a heater yet.
I am thinking....... how pleased I am with the response to my new meme Simple Joys Saturday and also my Blue Monday...... my new friends here on Blogspot are so generous and encouraging.
I am thankful for ..... so many things...... that we have our health and  are doing more outdoor activities, we started tennis last week, and are going twice a week, when we aren't singing, one lady is 85 and still knocking the socks off us beginners. We are enjoying our dancing classes and Hubby started 3D archery again. We are getting more walkers in our National Heart FoundationWalking Group too.
From the kitchen .... We just had some delicious pumpkin and sweet potato soup for lunch. We like it thick and creamy with vegetables.....I put half a head of broccoli in too..... I don't add any thickener.
I am wearing.... the clothes I went walking in at 7.30am this morning.
I am creating ..... the personalised birthday cards for our Know Your Bible study group.  I was the one reminding our leader about upcoming birthdays, two this week, so I got the job...smile. She has so many things on her plate, including travelling to help with serious older family member issues.
I am going... out to dinner with Hubby tonight, just to the local RSM Club.
I am reading.... nothing special at the moment.
I am hoping.... That our dear friend that we had a phone call from this morning fares well with her medical and family issues.
I am hearing ..... the sounds of traffic in the street in the distance.  Hubby is out getting his hair cut, so I am not hearing his singing and playing guitar that I mostly hear.
Around the house..... I have been outside and attended to my cottage garden front bed, but inside we are a bit messy.   I think I have said that before....smile

One of my favourite things...... I have to share that I made some pancakes with gluten free flour from Aldi this week, and they were the best ever.... though I did put two eggs in instead of one.  I woke up in the night thinking I should have taken a photo of them.... smile. I served them with banana cut over them, a large spoon of creamy greek yoghurt and pure maple syrup.
A few plans for the rest of the week.... this is our busy week for singing, and we have a special tomorrow, the Tibouchina club. We've been there once before. It is about 10 volunteers who put on a day for about 60 seniors every week, shut ins, people in homes that are brought to a centre by bus for activities, lunch and entertainment once a month. We were there on St Patricks Day, and are booked for another day in July. We also do two in another town on Thursday and one on Friday.  Saturday is the start of our town's annual festival and there is a folk weekend too.
Here is a picture for thought.....
Was just browsing my file to find a pic, don't know where this came from, and made me think of a very precious Salvation Army family, the first daughter Faith, the second Hope, and the third was to be Charity, but the Mother resisted and she was named May, my children's very dear and loved Grandmother (M-i-Law). Yet when my children were young, Charity was a popular girl's name, and I have just looked it up, and lovely connotations are appreciated nowadays. I suppose the Mother was thinking of the shame of people receiving charity in the tough times a lot of families went through.
Enough rambling!

Hello Jan
Thanks fro dropping in recently and for your lovely comments
For some reason I always find your day/week far more interesting than a lot of other peoples - I know we aren't all the same but yours has so much fitted in to one simple day
Making soup here as well - lots of veggies going in.
Lucky you not having to have the heating on - its only 4c/39f here this morning so its been on for a while to warm the house up
Take care
Cathy

Hi Jan, I enjoyed your list too. You are keeping a good schedule for your retirement and good on you both for starting up with the physical exercise...something I also aim to do more and more of as time goes by. The pancakes you made really appeal to me too.
