HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Prayers for a blessed Year in 2011 for you and your loved ones!

Only four and a half hours to go and it will be 2011 here in Eastern Australia!  On the news they say they are expecting one and a half million people to congregate around Sydney Harbour for the festivities! We were there ashore a few times and on the harbour in our boat a couple of other years. We are quite happy to have a quiet evening at home these days!

I am not particularly in favour of fireworks displays, and there has been discussion about it, but apparently it is seen as justified as they estimate it generates welcome publicity and many $$$$ for Australia.

We finished 2010 with a New Year's Eve concert at one of the Aged Hostels. They counted down New Year at 11am, (13 hours early) with poppers and a toast and of course Auld Lang Syne.

I had a camera with me, so here are a few photos, though of course I cannot post photos that show the resident's faces.  There was a nice crowd, about 60 I suppose.

Several of the homes have a permanent or visiting dog, and we got to know the little fellow there today.

The Auld Lang Syne tradition is not to be missed in Australia, and will be heard right across the land tonight,  and of course we obliged today.  Here is a rendition from youtube.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY   BJ Hoff

THE FOOTPRINTS OF HIS LOVE
Unknown, but not uncharted,
tomorrow waits for our arrival -
a day designed, a place prepared
with tender care by the One
who goes before us .....
Let us walk with faith behind Him
in the footprints of His love.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path  Psalms 119:105

With love and blessings,
Jan

We may be seniors, but we still enjoy life and appreciate what others do for us. Your words and thoughts are so good. Thanks for visiting and look forward to even better 2011.

Happy New Year's, Jan! You are already in 2011 and we have another 7+ hours here in Montana. Needless to say, we will be sound asleep!

Many blessings,

Happy New Year Jan. We are still hours away from the countdown here where I live. I'm so glad you were able to ring in the New Year with the seniors who I know absolutely appreciate what you do for them. God bless you and your family in 2011.

Coincidently I played that video yesterday, didn't post it anywhere as it made me sad. Such a moving song. Thanks for the poem.

Happy New Year. It must be heartening for the oldies to have you visit.
It must have been a great experience on the harbour that time.
