Follow Friday #85

Each week, Hilary lists four statements with a blank for us to fill in on our own blogs.

This week’s statements:

1. My love of public speaking is my favorite feature.

2. Thinking about Tilda getting old makes me sad.
3. It’s been a long time since I travelled overseas.

4. I just don’t understand people who have to "keep up with the Joneses"

I don't understand people trying to keep up either.

Tilda is adorable!! That would definitely make me sad too. We are waiting for our youngest to be a bit older before we get a pet. She's a bit animal obsessed and would give the poor thing way too much love.

Agh, the Joneses -- it's not point for us. with one salary, we don't have the money to even try. What surprises me is that the "haves" can be so insensitive towards us "have nots". They forget that not everyone has the money to put their kids in every single sporting or activity club.

I never got the need for stuff. All stuff does is clutter your house and make you poor. Don't get it myself.

There's very few people who truly enjoy public speaking. You obviously have a gift.

Have a blessed weekend!

I think it is a real gift to be able to do one's own thing and not be swayed by outside pressures.... to be able to enjoy the simple things in life..... no doubt a lot more difficult with children whose friends all have certain things.

Rory, the love and the positive attitude in your home will make up for it because you are there with your children!

Reminds me of an ad on TV at the moment for insurance... a man and child playing cricket on Wii... and the man says (as if it was something terrible and a Wii is now an essential item for living) "In my day we hit a ball around the backyard" ... My thoughts are - well why not invite some neighbourhood children or school friends over and play in the backyard, everyone would be better off.

Exactly, Wayne.

Years ago I participated in a club, and sometimes got an invite to b a guest speaker, but nowadays I still enjoy being in front of the crowd at the Seniors Groups and Aged Care when we entertain them... and get a laugh with our off-the-cuff comments.
A Blessed weekend to you too.
