Beautiful Sunday

Starting off with a photo from my file, now that it has stopped raining, I hope to get out and take some more.

A Glorious sunny Sunday here, and a day to be thankful all around.

After my last post "It's Stopped Raining", an Australian Blogger friend who lives about two hours north warned me more bad weather was on the way, and it rained again torrentially, then firece winds, though we got off lightly compared to southern friends, who  had floods and even snow around where my daughter lives... in October.... when it is often as hot as Summer.. So I am basking in a bright day with lovely temperature.

I finished all the new covers for the back deck, and that has really lifted my spirits, though I didn't realise they needed lifting, I thought they were pretty good. So today I set the table on the deck with flowers from the garden and cooked a really lovely lunch, after getting back from church.

Just popping back to some thoughts on the week, this was one of our singing weeks, and as always, it is such a blessing with the comments we receive.... that Earl only comes out of his room when we are there, a 90 year old who says our visit is the highlight of his month and asked us to come to his 90th birthday in December, and to see them settle down after we come in and start talking to them, and that reminds me of the Activities Officer sharing that they like us so much because we speak to everyone...... I just couldn't imagine going in, putting on a show and walking out again!!!!!  Please don't think I am being big-headed with these comments, I am just encouraging you that visiting the residents in Aged Care is a two-way blessing.

We had some favourites at Church this morning, here's two, I'm sure you know them.

I picked up my booklet for this term's Bible Study too, The Letters of John, Love Expressed and Practised.

Trusting you will have a lovely Sunday and week too.
With love and blessings,
Jan

Hi Jan, it is so great to hear you are blessed by singing at the senior's home. My mom will be moving into one soon and you don't know how it lifts my spirits to know there are people who will commit to going in and entertaining and blessing her and other. I just know how much mom will look forward to that. I do have a cousin who ministers in song in a nursing home. She has been doing it for years now and says how much the people look forward to it and how they let her know. Blessings to you and your husband for your committment in this area.

You are so right about saying that you ministering to the seniors is a MUTUAL blessing. I so appreciate you sharing this encouragement with others. If many folks could just get over the initial anxiety of visiting our fragile elderly, they would realize the blessings to be had. I'm so proud of the young mom's who come with their toddler to visit the seniors. Just last week all the seniors made a huge circle and the moms and tots sat in the middle with blankets and toys and just played. One of our staff then plays some children's songs which the little ones sing or do the actions, and our seniors are just thrilled. If I was allowed I'd share the pictures of their faces!

God bless your continued commitment!!

Mama is 82 and very healthy. Her ministry is visiting the aged. After church on Sunday she visits our 92 year old cousin. She visits nursing homes and people in their homes. It's a wonderful ministry. The photo is beautiful. I noticed your kind note about picture coping. You need to make sure to put that on your privacy setting with Google. They put all the pictures we use on these blogs on Google images unless you set it to block not share. Have a great week. To check just go to Google images and put your name or your blogs name in to see if they are there. Have a great week. Doylene
