Hit a Roo

One of my grandaughters was driving and hit a kangaroo last night.  Fortunately she only got a got a small dent and broke a headlight, as it went over the top.  It is so scary when the young people (she will be 18 in a week or so)  have to drive at night, on the country roads.  She was returning over the Blue Mountains from a weekend conference in Sydney towards a certificate for her year 12 (last year in High School).  I am so proud of her that she kept her nerve and stayed on the road.

I remember when we attended her debutante ball in September 2008, and we were returning to my daughter's place, just the older generations, very slowly, and we came around a corner and a cow was standing slap-dab on our side of the road.... any normal speed and we would have ran head-on into it. Wombats are very bad at night in that area too.

As it says in 1 Peter 5:7, we can only hand all our cares and worries over to Him, as He cares for us.
We need to do this to keep our peace of mind,  and our joy in life.

Pic, one of my favourites, taken a few years ago.

Pic last year with her Mum, my daughter

Glad your grand daughter was okay Jan.

Trouble with roos is you never can judge which way they are going to go, thats if you see them in the first place. I worry for my family that travel through roo country every day to go to work.

Lovely photos.

Best wishes,

Tania

So glad there was no injury. We have problems here of hitting deer. They are quick, but often not quick enough to prevent them from being hit and causing much damage and injury. She's a beautiful young lady! Cathy

Where we are there is a section with roos, deer, the occasional goat, wallabies etc. etc. I saw two very big deer a couple of weeks ago. They are very scared, one went back across again. They run fast as well.

I am very glad she was OK Jan. A bit scary by the sound of it. We were on a cliff edge and a large one jumped, but the timing was off and we were safe.

I was very surprised by one we hit Tania, I think it went straight for us. It hit the bullbar. I have heard that fans can't go through batteries anymore, which is a relief.

That is why I avoid night driving. It is not always easy to see animals in the dark and they dart out unexpectedly. So thankful she was not hurt. That is one of the bad things on country road, but the life in the country is so peaceful and lots of fresh air.

When my brother and I took a first trip to Aussieland, I remember seeing dead roos all along the highway from Cairns to Sydney (more of them up north on the long, empty stretches of highway). I could imagine just what an impact those roos could have on a driver. Thank goodness your granddaughter is safe.
