Beautiful Sunday

Beautiful Sunday, and we don't have any commitments today. It has been hot already, so must be aware of and thankful for such a gorgeous day.  As it is open day at the garden, as a segment of the local Garden and Flower Show, and two of our members are there to chat to visitors, will call in there.  I took a few photos yesterday to publicise it on Facebook.

I ordered a new book, Grain Brain that is getting a lot of publicity, and looking forward to receiving it this week. I ordered from Book Depository as that is the best deal for us.  It explains "what happens when the brain encounters common ingredients in your daily bread and fruit bowls, why your brain thrives on fat and cholesterol, and how you can spur the growth of new brain cells at any age". It is looking towards helping people to avoid dementia and alzheimers.   I personally have an issue with my cholesterol reading, as local doctors consider it high, but all the info I see online says it is OK, and this book also supports my ideas.  I have refused to take statins for some time now.
I saw a flyer for The Leprosy Mission in a publication that came a week or so ago and ordered a couple of items - Christmas cards and a bracelet, to try their items as they did not give a lot of info.  I am very pleased with them and will be putting in a larger order.

We've sorted out this song as we've been asked to help with it for a special occasion later in the year.

Now to get out and enjoy the day.
Love and Blessings.

Enjoy garden looking today, it is very hot here today and I going to do a few inside jobs until it cools enough to go back out side...That book sounds very interesting I haven't heard of it before.

I saw the book in a post u wrote earlier. Interesting. What are statins? Also read your newsletter. I copied down recipe for gooseberry jam. It reminds me of ground cherries my aunt grew. Mom made jam from them, they taste awful by themselves but I liked the jam. God bless.

Great to hear from you. The book has only been out about a week, but getting a lot of online publicity. We have already cut back a lot on wheat and sugar, and eating good fats, after all the lo-fat years, and hopeful of more information.
Blessings.

Becky the statins are the Lipitor, Cresta, (Australian brand names) etc that doctors are very keen to get us onto when they consider our cholesterol reading is raised, but all the online info goes into the side effects, not good for kidneys and memory to start with, and I felt like I was hit over the head with a hammer all the time I was on them. As far as Dr Mercola is concerned my cholesterol is a little high but OK, but I have a discussion with my doctor to keep off statins every time I get my blood tests. In this book it says those with higher cholesterol live longer.... it is a big subject all around.

I have gooseberries in my garden, and took some spare plants over to the community garden. They are the same old fashioned ones I enjoyed as a child, and I like them fresh too, or in tarts or lightly steamed with cream or custard. God Bless.

I stopped taking one as well, didn't make me feel good. I take fish oil capsules and they seem to lower cholesterol marks. Thanks for your comment on my blog. Right now I'm awake, reading on my Samsung tablet since my chest is congested and couldn't sleep. It's better now. Best get some sleep so I can stay awake at church. God bless you!
