I remember wth nostalgia wonderful "Carols by Candlelight" evenings years ago. People of all ages, families, singles, elderly would gather at the open air venue, in the balmy evening air as dusk fell. We would recieve carol sheets as we arrived and light our candles in their protective cardboard sleeves. I especially treasure the memory of one such occasion in the grounds of Taronga Zoo overlooking Sydney Harbour.
They still call these occasions Carols by Candlelight in our town, and advertise a Christmas message, but last year it was read out a few minutes before the end of the night when all the families with young children had long departed, and only the last few items were waiting their turn. The carols were only on at the end too, the evening was all Santa orientated. One of the local service clubs runs it, with their raffles and chocolate wheels, and this year markets are being held in conjunction with it.
No we aren't attending, but one of my Christmas banners is, my friend who will be singing just phoned and asked to borrow my Christian one. We have spoken about putting on Carols and hope to organise it for next year, thought of it too late and have too many commitments this year.

Hello Jan, Lovely to see you back. We had the carols by candlelight arranged for last year and then due to the floods, we had it inside the church. Its much nicer outside. This year our church is having it at the Salvation Army, because they all came to ours last year. I will enjoy going there as I am an old Sally.
Your banner is so nice. I really like them.
Love Crystal
Thank you Crystal, we do have a couple of Christian Carol services to attend, but it is a shame that the town event is so far off the mark. Love, Jan
Hi Jan - It's good to see you back. I'm sorry your husband has had health problems.
The Carols by Candlelight sound wonderful. Too bad, like everything else, they are trying to take Christ out of Christmas.
Blessings,
Joan
Town events can be that way. But we can still keep Christ in Christmas where ever we go. Maybe there will be an opportunity to share music before Christmas. I love your Christmas banner. Beautiful! Good to read one of your blog posts again. Been missing you! Hope all is well and hugs for a great week!
Hi Joan and Becky, thank you for the comments. Unfortunately the town "Carols" are all Santa orientated here these day, and Carols seem limited to the Church services. We do a number of Carols in our concerts for the Aged Homes, including at their Christmas parties.
Love and Blessings
